Below is the study guide I created while studying for my CAL-LAW exam. With the use of this study guide I was able to pass my exam confidently on my first attempt by only studying 30-60 minutes for a couple days prior to the exam. As long as you have the right information to study, this test is very easy. Below is that right information, I hope it helps you like it helped me! Article 1: Administration Highest Priority of the California Physical Therapy Board=protection of the public Board Composition: 1 PT involved in Education of PTs 3 licensed PTs, >5 years experience 3 Members of the Public without any…

California Physical Therapy License Requirements
California is often viewed as the hardest state to get your physical therapy license in, and for good reason in most cases. However, recently, I tamed this beast and received my license in what I consider to be record breaking time. Some things like the processing speed of your application are out of your control. However, you are able to control how quickly you can put together your application and get the Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC) all of their required documents and information. This can be done by first knowing what all needs to be completed, and then organizing it in a way to maximize the speed. I…

Taming the Beast: Obtaining My California PT License
So I finally did it. I went after the big one. The license that recruiters warn you about, the license fellow physical therapists complain of and the license that scares many travelers away from ever applying for. It’s the license process that is warned to take so long that many travelers miss out on job opportunities or need to delay start dates. However, it’s also the license that offers the most jobs in the United States, as well as…

Semi-Retirement with Traveling Healthcare
In continuation with my post last week on partial financial independence (FI), I wanted to show how powerful partial financial independence and traveling healthcare can be when combined together. So if you remember from my last post, partial FI, is basically when you have enough funds in your portfolio where you can take your foot off the gas and work less while still maintaining your portfolio. Basically, you work enough to cover your annual expenses or some of your annual expenses and then let your portfolio do the rest. For many people, this lets them enjoy life more without the stress of their daily grind to work each day. It…

Filing For Unemployment as a Traveler
Thankfully, and I mean THANKFULLY, this has not yet become my reality but for many full time and traveling therapists, nurses, etc, this has become theirs. Personally, many of my friends, past colleagues, and fellow travelers have been asking questions about the process of applying for unemployment insurance as COVID-19 has proven that job security in healthcare isn’t as safe as we once thought. So, I figured diving in to answer as many of these questions as I could would be helpful. Plus, there is a strong chance that after my current contract is up at the end of May, I may be applying for unemployment as well since the…
