Dealing with Loneliness as a Traveler

The stresses of traveling healthcare can be a lot to manage sometimes, but for me, one of the hardest things I have had to learn to overcome with traveling is the loneliness of it. As a traveler, you uproot your entire life, you leave your friends and family, you move across the country, and you start a new job in a new location with new coworkers and patients.  It’s A LOT. But understanding how normal it is and having some ideas on how to combat it can make the entire transition much more manageable. I do think there are people out there who have free spirits and are perfectly happy and content…

    I Need a Mentor…Or Maybe Not

I understand that this post may be met with some criticism, so let’s address this right away.  I’m not saying that mentorship programs aren’t helpful, or that there aren’t amazing mentors out there, because there are. I’m also not saying that with the right mentorship you can’t grow as a clinician because you can.  That is, when you have the right situation. Basically, for those of you who don’t know, a hedge fund is an actively managed portfolio…

My Favorite Starting Credit Card: 4 Round Trip Flights for Free!

What if I told you that you could fly on Jet Blue (love that leg room) 4 times, round trip from BOS to MSP for free in a 2 month span?? Would you be interested? Yeah me too, so I did it. I can thank all of my friends for getting married as to the why I needed to home that many times in such a short period of time.  So, how did I do it? I did it through travel hacking, or using credit cards safely, to get maximum return on my every day purchases.  And I did it using my favorite credit card for newbie travel hackers or…

    Assignment #3: Boston!

In light of traveling by car for 2,734 miles across the country to start my 6th traveling assignment, I figured I should continue to update everyone about where I have been.  I also want to apologize about the day late post, 14 hours in the car pretty much wiped me out from all thinking abilities.  The extent of my brain power was enough to watch game of thrones and pass out.   Anyways, I had finally made it to…BOSTON! My gap assignment ended, it served it’s purpose, and I finally made it to Boston. I know, I know, I know, no one is suppose to be able to get a traveling…
